WWSF newsletter February 2022

A message from WWSF Board

Best wishes from everyone at WWSF.  We hope you are your families are in good health as we prepare for lighter nights ahead and hopefully come out of the other end of this horrible pandemic. Your Board has been very busy these early weeks of 2022.  We have been setting our calendar of events for the year ahead. And at the same time we have just made a very substantial award spread across the community. Read on for more information on all of that.

We’re always on the look out for deserving causes across East Lothian that may benefit from our support.  We need you Scotters to be our eyes and ears, so if you hear or see things in our community that you think we can help with, please let us know.

WWSF awards £5,000 to support local food initiatives

Walk With Scott Foundation is proud to announce it has awarded £5,000 to support 10 local community food initiatives throughout East Lothian. Dunbar Food Share, North Berwick Kindness Co-operative, Our Community Kitchen, Lammermuir Larder, Fa’side Community Kitchen, Roots & Fruits; plus community food hubs in Port Seton, Prestonpans, Wallyford and Whitecraig have all benefitted.  Read all about it by clicking on the link below.

WWSF Golf Day – can you help?

The WWSF Golf Day is back on 25 March at The Royal Musselburgh Golf Club. This is a very popular event but we have space for a few more teams if you would like to join. The entry fee is £300 per team of 4. This includes a breakfast roll with tea/coffee and a 2 course meal after the golf.

We are looking for raffle prizes if you know local businesses that can help. Any golfers out there with contacts for some golf prizes would be very much appreciated.

Big Boys Breakfast – sold out!

Thank you very much to those of you who have booked your spaces at this year’s BBB.  We are delighted to say that the event is sold out and we are very much looking forward to welcoming you all at one of WWSF’s big events for the year.

Save the dates – 7 May and 12 November

Our annual walk this year will be called our ‘infinity’ walk and is scheduled to take place on 7 May; again covering 26 miles across our beautiful County.  Watch this space for sign up details.

Our Scotter’s Ball is proving to be a real highlight to the end of each year and we expect this year to be no different.  This is a super fun night of laughter, food and dancing in great company; raising lots of money for the Foundation in the meantime. Put 12 November in your diary!

WWSF AGM – 3 March 2022

We are holding our AGM online on the evening of Thursday 3rd of March and if anyone would like to join in then contact info@walkwithscottfoundation.co.uk and we will send you the zoom joining information for the meeting.

Fundraisers update – please sign up for Amazon Smile

WWSF was delighted to receive £795 from Dougie McQuillan and £500 from the Edinburgh Electrical Society (who also donated a projector to our friends at Harlawhill).

Graham Jamieson from Jamieson Financial Planning has also made a £500 donation to the Foundation and (better still) has signed up for this year’s walk – thank you Graham and welcome!
