Seventh Way of WWSF

In June, as we often do, WWSF stepped in at a moment of crisis to provide match funding to our friends at Dad’s work who were left with a major repair bill after a break-in. At the same time, we also provided funds to the local Waggonway project.

In June, in the midst of the pandemic, we provided pamper hampers to help the exhausted staff working at local hospitals. Thanks to our own Kerry Taylor for helping to make this happen.

Over the last few days we have confirmed a major award of £12,000 for Active Schools.  This is a significant award and one that we feel will make a big difference to children and young people in East Lothian. Encouraging and supporting young people back into activity is key to developing positive health and Scotters should be proud of making this happen.

In May as the pandemic started to bite, Colin spearheaded a major appeal, backed by WWSF and with wonderful support from Davie Martin and Radio Saltire raised funds to provide life saving thermometers for cancer patients at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. As a result £8,000 was raised which provided comfort to people fighting cancer.

Our community Kitchen is an organisation close to our heart.  In January we made a contribution to the great work that OCK does.  Later in the year, our own Colin used his 55th birthday celebrations to raise funds for Faside Community Kitchen and Roots and Fruits. All of these groups provide much needed support in our Communities and the Foundation is delighted to have supported their efforts.

Through our friends at Fostering Compassion, WWSF funded Smokey Paws kits for fire stations throughout the County; these are vital pieces of equipment to revive much loved pets who have been caught up in household fires.

We started the year by supporting the purchase in January of an all important trike for Hamish Colgan and a para-bowling wheelchair for East Lothian bowling.

WWSF has, with your backing, supported crucial groups and services throughout our community. Our family of Scotters have faced the fight posed by this pandemic, given their time, energy and support and have risen to the challenge. We couldn’t have done what we have done without you. Please join us on our new website www.walkwithscottfoundation.co.uk, sign up to receive our regular newsletters and updates; please encourage others to do the same and help grow the “Scotter family”! Thank you again for your love, support and community spirit.
